Chryslers on the Murray 2009 Here we go again. How fast does a year go by? At least this year we have not had the disruption of ground changes leading up to the show like last year. Speaking of last year, how hard was that? The heat was a killer. Working members suffered and our small club can't afford to lose any working members. Changes had to be made to lighten the load. Changes like dropping Friday check in. A lot of work was required to set up and then pack up later and move all the gear to the ground. The Saturady morning early run was another casuality. It involved members having to race off site and set up signs, etc when they could be of more use at the ground. Numbers for the early run have been dropping off for the last 4 years. Too much going on back at the ground for entrants to leave. This of course means Saturday morning check in will be flat out. We will need all members who will be working at check in and parking on deck no later than 7.30am until the rush slows down around 10.30am. The plan is to have two lanes entering the ground. An express lane for those pre-enterd. All that they will require will be their entry sticker and goodie bag and off they go. If they need merchandise, they can pick it up from the merchandise stand located in, what was the catering tent. Those who choose not to pre-enter will have to line up and be processed in the other lane. They will NOT be eligible for judging either. Another change for this year. It simply has become too big a task to try and find all the cars that require judging that are spread all over the ground. This year the judges will have a list of cars to be judged from the list of pre-enterd cars. One thing that has not changed this year or for the last three years for that matter, is the entry cost. Even though our running costs have increased over the years, we value our entrants participation and look to make their time here as econoimical and enjoyable as possible. All this has been made possible with new major sposnorship for Northern Motor Group and Chrysler Australia, as well as Wodonga City Council and long time sponsor Dodge City Conversions/ Elko Peformance. The food catering this year will be handled by the Lions club of Wodonga. Prices will remain low as you have come to expect. All profits will go to charity. Gate takings from the show also go to volunteer organisations like the Victorian CFA and the New South Wales RFS. We don't need to mention how important they are to our communities. Looking ahead to next year, we will be moving again, for the last time. The new ground is twice the size of any previous grounds we have used. Space will be plentiful and entrants and swap meet vendors will have room to spread out and put up shade tents. The ground has a sprinkler system which will help with the dust and the Albury Wodonga Chrysler Club will be donating $10,000 towards getting the surrounding road sealed. As of this being written, we have not had any rain for 2 months, so please bear with us this year, as we will soon be on a pourpose built ground which will benefit all involved.
